Chronic Low Back Pain

The Health Coach Initiative is offered by Mellon to all benefited U.S. employees, spouses and dependents enrolled in the Mellon Medical Plan. This program is free, voluntary, confidential and wellness oriented. Mellon has partnered with APS Healthcare to provide the Health Coach Initiative services.

Chronic Low Back Pain can happen for many reasons, including injury, faulty posture and degeneration of the different parts of the spinal column. It is an issue for many Mellon employees who need to stand on their feet for a majority of the workday. It affects up to 80 percent of the working population at least once in their lifetime, and is the leading cause of workplace disability.

Health Coach Initiative services can help you feel your best while remaining active. These services focus on proactive education and prevention and provide you with exercise and relaxation techniques to minimize the effects of low back pain. APS' specially trained nurses and physical therapists work with you and your physician to develop an individualized health care plan, and they also facilitate the use of your covered benefits for appropriate referrals to treat and minimize your chronic pain.
