Children’s Services

For socially and medically necessary children’s services, APS Healthcare offers care management services to childcare agencies, such as the Bureau for Children and Families, independent contractors, foster parents and family members. APS children’s services care management programs are focused on the areas of mental health, substance abuse and developmental disabilities. These programs are customized based on the needs of the state.

APS’ children’s services complement the company’s other services to provide a holistic approach to managing healthcare for the mind and body. Key functions of APS’ children’s services programs include:

  • Family and community education
  • Standardized service definitions and expectations for all providers
  • Prior authorization of services using APS CareConnection®, a proprietary Web-based technology platform that collects authorization and quality improvement data via the Internet and provides that data to authorized care management participants in full compliance with HIPAA requirements
  • Case reviews to ensure proper service utilization
  • Data collection, analysis, reporting and trending
  • Provider technical assistance and training
  • Retrospective review of services
  • State and local agency staff training and assistance

APS children’s services are focused on improving the quality of life and healthcare for members and beneficiaries. Specifically, APS focuses on:

  • Providing opportunities for full continuum of services throughout a state
  • Using evidenced-based best practices methods
  • Advancing community-based interventions
  • Centralizing and standardizing revenue/reimbursement process to improve financial accountability of providers and Department of Health & Human Resources (DHHR)
  • Delivering accurate tracking of clinical, financial and social outcomes
